My business is the size that most businesses never grow to. As a result of my work on the California state budget, I spoke at the first-ever U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta in 2007. I spent about six weeks traveling the world with my beloved in 2017. And as a witch and priestess for about 25 years, I know the energetics of money and manifestation.

In fact, I lost my tech job in 2002 and went from well-paid working mom to welfare mom, despite the fact that I hustled as hard as I could—and spent all the money I had to keep us afloat (my savings, my unemployment, and my retirement fund).
The day I had to go to a food bank in order to feed my son, I was humiliated and terrified.
But something changed for me that day, and it was then that I made a commitment to myself and my son that that would never happen again.
I had to figure this out. There was simply no other way. The process of rebuilding my entire life, career, and health as a solo parent to my disabled son was long and painful. But I also learned some invaluable lessons as I went from welfare to earning six figures as an entrepreneur. It took years to put together all of this information, skills and systems to get to the confidence and security I feel today.
I didn’t have a solid foundation when I went to look at profitability, asking for loans and seeking clients. I made all the same mistake my clients do. I didn’t track my money and did a lot in my head so sometimes I accidentally double counted money or missed key expenses because I wasn’t looking at the right things.
Then I created a system … the system that got me to where I am today. I started to really look at what it takes to understand money and my relationship to it. What to look at, how to think about it and what makes others really successful with their money. I started asking key questions like: Why do some people have more money even though they make the same as other folks? And what makes a business profitable? And also questions like: How can I have a great relationship with money, but not let it take over my whole life, or eat up all my downtime?
